Ask Gina
Q. My managers have asked me to call them by their first names, but I am 23 years old and from a culture where this would be unheard of. What should I do?
A. I can see how that would feel uncomfortable! But since your managers have asked you to use their first names, that's probably what they prefer (some of us feel "old" being addressed by Mr. or Ms.). So think of this as an opportunity for you to make your managers more comfortable, and to show respect by honoring their wishes.
